Whenever you are able, give your student the opportunity to develop higher level thinking skills.
* Provide opportunities for problem solving: “your model volcano is falling over. Can you think of a way to fix it?”
* Provide opportunities for decision making: Which would you like to do first, eat your apple or your sandwich?”
* Provide opportunities for making judgements: “Do you think Mary should be allowed to go on the field trip even if she forgot her permission slip?”
* Provide opportunities for critical thinking: Ask questions that require more than a yes or no answer: “Why do you think live bugs are better than Lizard Chow?”
