Willingness         May 19, 2020
IF your student doesn’t want to learn, try to find out why.  Some students find it difficult to venture out of their “comfort zone”.  Others may not think it’s worth the effort because they’re convinced they can’t learn anyway.  Perhaps they see no advantage in learning because they think they are doing just fine.  Some may be unwilling because past attempts have resulted in lack of achievement.
*    Have the student observe others enjoying learning or getting rewarded for learning.
*    Arrange for him to be in a position to watch you and another student having fun with flash card games.
*    Show him the round stickers and stars he can earn to stick on the cards.
*    Your own enthusiasm can be contagious, enjoy yourself and look forward to the learning sessions.
*   Describe the program as fun and do your best to make it fun.
